Steve Jobs

Leaders are very important people in our society. A true leader will not just tell people to do things, a true leader will show them how to do it and will be by their side every step of the way. Without out leaders, society would crumble. A prime example of a very important successful Leader is Steve Jobs. What makes a leader different from the rest? What is something all leaders have in common?

Leaders care for people. Like caring enough to understand when staff need support if put into difficult situations where their skill may not match the challenge called upon them. A leader will show people how to do things and will help people in need.

True leaders inspire people to do things better and to do something differently in-order to get a better result. True leaders don’t mind getting their own hands dirty.

Quote of the day

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

How I Met Your Mother Life Lessons

How I Met Your Mother was and still is by far my all-time favourite TV series. For those of you who don’t know what How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) is, (I’m assuming there aren’t many of you), its an American sitcom which ran from 2005 – 2014. The series follows the main character, Ted Mosby, and his group of friends in Manhattan as Ted tells the story to his two kids of how he met their mother.

I have learnt many important life lessons from this TV show. Some of which are listed below:

  1. Don’t chase after what doesn’t work. Let the universe take over.
  2. Things happen for a reason.
  3. Nothing good happens after 2am.
  4. Some people are worth a lot of work to keep around.
  5. Wait for it.
  6. Don’t ever give up crazy times with your friends.
  7. The important moments shouldn’t be wasted, because you can’t get them back.
  8. Give as many high-fives and you get.
  9. Play laser tag once a week, at least.
  10. Don’t postpone joy.
  11. Whatever you do in life, it’s not legendary unless your friends are there to see it.
  12. You can’t cling to the past. Because not matter how tightly you hold on, it’s already gone.
  13. Brunch is for couples. That’s it. And families, but not alone!
  14. If you are close enough to your friends, you can forgive them for the little things that drive you nuts.
  15. You can’t jump straight to the end, the journey is the best part.
  16. Life is short. Have fun, meet new people, be a little reckless every once and awhile. Do what you’re afraid to do, just to prove to yourself you can do it.
  17. Take risks.
  18. You always know what you truly want, you just have to be willing to let yourself have it.
  19. Listen to your heart.
  20. Honesty is everything.
  21. Focus on the good, it will always outweigh the bad. Stay positive. “When I get sad I stop being sad, and be awesome instead.”
  22. Don’t settle for less than you deserve.
  23. Don’t go for something that is convenient, go for what feels right.
  24. Closure is necessary.
  25. Appreciate the little things in life.
  26. People can change.
  27. You learn who you are when you’re single.
  28. Dress to impress.
  29. Make mistakes.
  30. Friends are forever.

Quote of the Day

Its a long one but its definitely worth the read! One of my favourite all-time quotes.

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!”

What is Intelligence? Well according to Einstein, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” I believe this to be the case. Intelligence isn’t something you are either born with or without. In saying that, people are born with a level of intelligence but it is up to them how they use it and whether they expand on it. In my opinion, everyone is born with a level of intelligence but that is just a starting point, a base line. Someone who is not overly smart but works hard in life and in their learning will beat someone who is born with much natural talent but just relies on that for their life and never makes an effort to improve.

In my opinion, true intelligence cannot be just granted to you when you are born. It is earned. It has to be worked on and worked on and if someone truly wants to be the best, no matter how which way they look at it, they are going to HAVE to work hard. If you really want to achieve something in life, if you truly want to be successful, if you truly want to be the BEST, then you have to work hard because nothing in this world is a given and that is a promise.
